Who's behind the Mummy Blog: Mumof2

The Full Story

First of all, my son was born at the end of February. My daughter, OJ (nickname) is 8 years old! A huge age gap between the two. This comes with its pros and cons. Biggest pro, is that OJ is a helper. She loves to help others even at times when it is not exactly needed. This means I have a little helper whenever I need it. Another pro is that she is very independent. She amuses herself most of the time and even showers herself (A huge win!)

The biggest con is that she is very aware of what is happening and is a worrier. She said to me the other day that she is worried her little brother (we know what we are having) won't like her. I feel this will cause some future problems.

Alright, back to the topic. I am a primary school teacher, and have been working full time for 3 years. The past two years I have travelled for work, being on the road nearly 3 hours a day. I was mostly doing 14 hour days all up, with travel and workload. But honestly, I am going to miss it this year being off. Especially being inside a classroom.

I live with my Fiance MJL (abbreviation) who is my best friend, rock and biggest support. He works and travels too, and does close to 13-14 hour days too. So this year will see to a lot of juggling for him. Oj is his step-daughter, and he has taken her on without hesitation. This baby will be his first, and that comes with a whole lot of nerves and doubts in itself. For me, I feel this is just revision! Learning things I have already done.

We all live with our little puppy Obi Wan, a jack russell cross fox terrier. He is a live wire and a sook! A very precious and spoilt little thing. I am very apprehensive as to how he is going to take having a new addition to the household.

Our little family

We live in a small duplex of a place and when MJL and I found out we were having an addition to the household, we had a whole lot of thinking to do as to how we are going to fit. We have gone through countless ideas as to how to fit in a cot/ bassinet/ storage of things into our two bedroom place. With this- comes some very inventive ideas. Ideas have been discussed, changed, re-discussed, put aside and some just plain thrown out (e.g. OJ suggested we build a room on our roof...)

I have a very supportive family, my parents are very hands on, and have done a lot of the running around with OJ the past 2 years with both of her parents doing such long hours. They love to help out and do so without complaint. They have allowed me to become a successful classroom teacher, whilst having a daughter. Something that I am extremely grateful for, but often causes me much guilt.
